UN Secretary General Guterres said on the 17th that the UN will continue to promote the smooth entry of Ukrainian and Russian agricultural products into the international market. Guterres said at a press conference held at the United Nations headquarters in New York on the same day that he deeply regretted Russia's announcement of the suspension of the implementation of the agreement on the export of agricultural products from the Black Sea ports. Despite Russia's decision, the United Nations will continue to work to promote the smooth entry of agricultural products from Ukraine and Russia into the international market. UN General Assembly President Körösi issued a statement through his spokesman Kubiak on the 17th, expressing deep regret over Russia's withdrawal from the agreement on the export of agricultural products from the Black Sea ports, and calling on all parties to return to the dialog. Russian Presidential Press Secretary Peskov said earlier on the 17th that the part of the agreement on the outbound transportation of agricultural products from Black Sea ports involving Russia has not been implemented, so the effectiveness of the agreement has been suspended. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zakharova said on the same day that Russia has informed Turkey, Ukraine and the United Nations that it will not extend the agreement on the export of agricultural products from Black Sea ports. Russia and Ukraine on July 22, 2022 in Istanbul, Turkey, on the issue of agricultural products out of Black Sea ports signed an agreement with Turkey and the United Nations. At the same time, Russia and the United Nations signed a memorandum on the promotion of Russian grain and fertilizer exports. The agreement on the export of agricultural products from Black Sea ports is initially valid for 120 days. The agreement was extended several times in November last year, March and May this year, and expired on July 17th."
