On November 11, the 13th International Conference on Agricultural Trade Policy, hosted by the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, was successfully held through the "online + offline" approach. Mr. Ma Hongtao, Director of the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center, attended the conference and delivered a speech.


Ma Hongtao pointed out that the new pneumonia epidemic has triggered a huge impact on the global agricultural supply chain, with food accessibility declining and food prices soaring. This year, droughts, floods, regional conflicts and some non-traditional factors have pushed food prices high, further increasing global concerns about food security and posing a huge challenge for achieving the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals. She expects that the participants will have in-depth exchanges and mutual inspiration, systematically study the current international food and agricultural markets, and contribute their wisdom to build global food security, improve global agricultural governance, and ensure the timely realization of China's agricultural and rural modernization and rural revitalization.


This conference is an in-depth discussion on food security, global agricultural governance and agricultural trade development since the outbreak of Newcastle Pneumonia, against the background of global food market shocks and increasing food security risks, to exchange views, gather consensus, study the current international food market situation, further promote global food security and enhance global agricultural governance. With the theme of "Food Security and Global Agricultural Governance in the Post-Epidemic Era", the conference was divided into three sessions: keynote report, "Agricultural Trade Development in the Context of Rural Revitalization Strategy" and "Global Agricultural Governance and Agricultural Trade Development". "Three sessions were held. The keynote report session focused on "Food Security in the Post-Epidemic Era", inviting Ye Xingqing, Director of the Rural Economic Research Department of the Development Research Center of the State Council, Du Zhixiong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Institute of Rural Development, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Yang Chunhua, Deputy Director of the Rural Economic Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Yang Chunhua, Deputy Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Food Systems and Food Safety Division. The latest research results were presented by renowned experts from home and abroad, including Divine Njie, Deputy Director of Food Systems and Food Safety Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). In the two panel discussions on "Agricultural Trade Development in the Context of Rural Revitalization Strategy" and "Global Agricultural Governance and Agricultural Trade Development", Mr. He Xiurong, Counsellor of the State Council and Distinguished Professor of China Agricultural University, Mr. Gong Xifeng, Counsellor of the Chinese Delegation to the WTO, and Mr. Liu Zhaoge, Counsellor of the Chinese Delegation to the WTO, presented their latest research findings. Mr. Tu Xinquan, President of China WTO Research Institute of the University of International Business and Economics, Mr. Han Yijun and Mr. Tian Zhihong, professors of China Agricultural University and Mr. Zhu Jing, professor of Nanjing Agricultural University, as well as experts from international institutions such as FAO Market and Trade Division, FAO Office in Geneva, OECD Trade and Agriculture Division, etc., were invited to conduct in-depth discussions in related fields.

The conference was also attended by nearly 300 participants from relevant ministries and commissions, relevant departments and bureaus of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, relevant provincial (district and city) agricultural and rural systems, foreign institutions, research institutes, international organizations, media, as well as industry associations and representatives of agriculture-related enterprises.


This seminar is also the first special forum of the 7th China International Food and Ingredients Expo and the 1st China International Prepared Vegetables Industry Expo hosted by the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center, marking the official launch of the simultaneous activities of the Food Expo and Pre Expo.
