Yiwu, known as the world capital of small commodities, has been an important frontier in China's cross-border trade. With 150 million registered users in more than 200 countries and regions, Alibaba International is one of the most important cross-border trade integrated service platforms in the world. On June 5, Yiwu Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Alibaba International Signed the "Digital Yiwu Quality Goes to sea" strategic Cooperation Agreement, jointly promoting the increment of local digital cross-border trade industry.

Through this cooperation, Ali International will hold the world's first online exhibition of small commodities for Yiwu, and yiwu Bureau of Commerce will invest 5 million yuan in the first phase to subsidize exhibitors' expenditure. The two sides will also jointly build a digital implementation center, upgrade the market procurement (1039) mode with Yiwu characteristics to a new export mode of "market procurement + cross-border e-commerce", and jointly expand new logistics channels such as "1039+ Meisen Clipper Ship", "1039+ China-Europe freight train" and "1039+ air freight". In addition, in view of the shortage of cross-border e-commerce talents in many businesses, Ali International Also plans to cooperate with yiwu local schools, training institutions and third-party recruitment agencies to send over 3,000 professional cross-border e-commerce operation talents to the local area within this year.

Yang Zhonghong, director of Yiwu's commerce Bureau, said the cooperation is another important partnership after Alibaba Group and Yiwu jointly established the World Electronic Trade Platform (eWTP) last year, aiming to form an organic combination of government affairs, finance, logistics, sales and commerce through the integrated development of offline economy and online platform. Zhang Kuo, general manager of Alibaba International, said the epidemic is accelerating the transformation of traditional foreign trade to digital new foreign trade. By seamlessly connecting yiwu's superior supply chain capabilities with Ali digital systems such as logistics, customs affairs, taxation and finance, the two sides will strive to build Yiwu digital trade port in the future and jointly create new digital foreign trade patterns and rules.

According to the data provided by Yiwu Municipal Bureau of Commerce, yiwu's commodities have been exported to more than 210 countries and regions in the world, with more than 7,100 foreign-related agencies. More than 13,000 foreign merchants from more than 130 countries and regions are resident in Yiwu, and the number of foreign merchants purchasing in Yiwu reaches 550,000 every year. By the end of May, yiwu's online transactions had grown 82 percent over the past year, bringing nearly 3 million active buyers to Yiwu merchants, according to Alibaba International. The cooperation is expected to add another 5 million overseas active buyers to the local market within a year, equivalent to creating 10 new "Yiwu", according to an official of Alibaba International.

It is reported that alibaba International site will hold 20 digital online exhibitions this year in response to the wide shortage of orders faced by foreign trade enterprises. Alibaba.com, the largest cross-border B2B digital fair, will also open on June 8.
