The South Korean government has announced a plan to invest 160 trillion won (1,111 won to the dollar) by 2025 to develop the digital and green economy and promote economic transformation.
According to the plan, South Korea will speed up the construction of artificial intelligence and big data platforms, train 100,000 professionals in artificial intelligence and software fields, and carry out ai quality education for all citizens. By 2025, the government plans to expand the 43 trillion won data market, create more than 900,000 jobs and complete the transformation of cloud computing in all public sector systems.
In order to popularize and promote more environmentally friendly ways of traveling, South Korea plans to invest 20.3 trillion won in the next five years to promote new energy vehicles, strengthen the construction of charging infrastructure, and scrap old diesel vehicles in advance or install filtration devices. The ministry of Industry, Commerce and Resources will set up a new department in charge of the auto industry, which will be responsible for researching and developing technology, building infrastructure, promoting the integration of related industries, relaxing domestic regulations and harmonizing international rules. The government will also provide Won22bn in credit guarantee funds to companies involved in the construction of electric vehicle production platforms.
The South Korean government also recently announced the "2050 Carbon neutral Strategy", which will improve the structure of four high-carbon industries, including steel, cement, petrochemical and oil refining, encourage the use of renewable energy, and enhance the environmental awareness of enterprises.
The south Korean business community responded positively after the relevant plan was launched. So far, more than 5,700 companies and institutions have expressed their desire to participate in the construction of a government-led big data platform. KDB announced that it will invest 350 billion won to set up a digital logistics fund, which will be mainly used to invest in intelligent logistics centers and logistics technology innovation enterprises.
