Vietnam Vietnam economy website reported: Japan's electricity production suppliers, biomass power generation enterprise EREX group President and general manager of Honda kernel industry and trade minister said RuanHongYan has met with Vietnam, the company intends to investment in the development of biomass power generation in Vietnam, department of trade and industry and the government gives support to push related implementation according to the progress of the projects and achieved expected effect.

Hitoshi said Japan is building the world's largest biomass power plant but lacks raw materials and the company hopes to import it from Vietnam, the report said. Phu an, Binh Thuan, Bati Toudun and Houjiang have the natural conditions for sorghum cultivation in Vietnam, and the estimated planting area is about 12,000 hectares. Since 2018, EREX has been in discussions with various parts of Vietnam on sorghum planting and power fuel production plans for 2021-2026, and has started a trial planting of 30 hectares of sorghum in Phu An province in July 2021. The division has proposed the goal of building 1,500 MEGAwatts of biomass power generation by 2035, reducing 27.57 kilotons of carbon dioxide by 2035 and stabilizing power generation.

According to the energy Research Institute of Vietnam, the total biomass supply in Vietnam is about 118 million tons per year, but the development and utilization rate is low. The installed capacity of biomass power generation only accounts for 0.94%(522.27 mw) of the national total installed capacity, and 0.14% of the national commodity electricity.
