"Exports of 48.98 billion U.S. dollars, a slight increase of 2.2% over the same period last year." A report from the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products shows that in the first five months, China's overall exports of home appliances grew slightly.
Among them, benefiting from the favorable effect of RCEP, ASEAN market growth rate is faster. At the same time, in some overseas countries epidemic control policy liberalization, home demand weakened, the export of household and kitchen small appliances showed a decrease in volume and price trend.
As the main export markets need time to digest the inventory of home appliances, China Chamber of Commerce for the import and export of machinery and electronic products household appliances branch secretary-general Zhou Nan is expected to further decline in China's exports of home appliances in the third quarter, the fourth quarter or signs of recovery.
Regional markets up and down
China's home appliance exports in the regional market performance of the rise and fall is not the same.
At present, Asia is still the largest market for China's home appliance exports, with a cumulative export value of US$17.63 billion in the first five months, up 4.5% year-on-year, but the growth rate narrowed significantly compared to the same period last year.
Benefit from the RCEP came into effect, China's home appliances exports to the ASEAN market rapid growth. Data show that the first five months of Chinese home appliances exports to the ASEAN market growth rate of more than 15%. "In recent years, thanks to ASEAN's large population base, rapid economic growth and the consumption potential of home appliances, China's economic and trade cooperation with ASEAN continues to show a stable and positive trend. Although experiencing the negative impact of the epidemic, China's home appliance exports to ASEAN have gradually rebounded with the recovery of the supply chain, the liberalization of epidemic control policies in some countries and the entry into force of RCEP." Zhou Nan said.
China's overall export situation to Oceania is stable and improving. In the first five months, China's exports of home appliances to Oceania amounted to $1.31 billion, up 18.5% year-on-year.
Europe has been one of the key markets for China's home appliance exports. Affected by the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and high inflation in European countries, the first five months, China's exports of home appliances to Europe amounted to $ 12.76 billion, down 2.9% year-on-year, exports to Europe's top trading partners such as Britain, Germany, France and other countries have declined to varying degrees.
Influenced by high inflation in the United States, the first five months, China's exports of home appliances to North America amounted to $12.23 billion, up 4.5% year-on-year, but the growth rate than last year (74.4%) fell sharply by nearly 70 percentage points. Dragged by the global economic shock, from the second half of last year to the present, the economy of Latin American countries downward, the same period China's exports of home appliances to Latin America 3.31 billion U.S. dollars, year-on-year growth rate from 77.1% last year shrank significantly to -4.5%.
In recent years, China's home appliance exports to the African region performed well. In the first five months, China's exports of home appliances to Africa 1.37 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 5.5% year-on-year, the growth rate compared to last year has fallen, but exports to Africa's top two trading partners Egypt and South Africa have maintained a steady growth of 5%.
Large and small home appliance exports are put
Since this year, in some overseas regions epidemic control and liberalization, home demand is increasingly contracted and outdoor gathering activities gradually increased under the influence of factors such as large and small appliance export volume decline. "Due to the Russian-Ukrainian geopolitical conflict triggered by rising raw material prices, as well as the high cost of international shipping logistics, the cost side of the pressure soared leading to the price of large appliances, China's refrigerator and washing machine exports price advantage gradually replaced by Turkey, Poland and Mexico." Zhou Nan said.
Not only the export volume of large appliances fell, life and kitchen small appliances exports are also declining trend. Subject to Europe and the United States, "home economy" demand decline, Europe and the United States home appliance market inventory continues to be high and the Russian-Ukrainian geopolitical conflict brought about by high inflation and other multiple factors, this year, China's household and small kitchen appliances exports show a decline in the same volume and price downturn performance. Among them, the export volume of range hoods, electric water heaters and solar water heaters fell significantly.
"Into the post-epidemic era, consumers in some countries and regions gradually return to normal life, air purifiers and other immediate products during the epidemic, the impact of stagnant stocks gradually emerged, home-based consumer demand for household appliances declined. In contrast, non-home and outdoor-type household appliances will be the key areas of concern for enterprises and the market, which may play an important role in outdoor social and leisure and other application scenarios." Zhou Nan said that since this year, the increase in consumer travel and socialization in Europe and the United States to promote the demand for care category home appliances, especially the blow dryer category and other hairdressing appliances export scale growth is faster. And in countries that have not been liberalized on the control of the epidemic, the suspension of the hairdressing care industry and continued home office is to a certain extent reduced the demand for electric push shears and razors, both exports have decreased.
