"The year 2020 will be an extraordinary year. It may also be a year that will change the overall pattern of the international logistics industry." Zhou Shihao, founder and CEO of Unitunar, recently analyzed the impact and changes of the Covid-19 epidemic on the international logistics industry and predicted the future trend of the industry at the "Trends and Forecasts 2021" conference."After entering the second half of 2020, there are three situations in the international logistics market, that is, the container export freight rate has risen sharply, many airlines have exploded and are short of containers, and the on-time rate has fallen sharply." Zhou Shihao said that under the impact of the epidemic, the international logistics market exposed two major problems. One is the lack of flexibility and redundancy. When the market pursues the highest efficiency and lower price, virtually no asset allocator will reserve redundant capacity and redundant crisis handling capacity in advance for the uncertain demand. The second is the lack of immediate demand response organization. Many freight forwarders and logistics enterprises are accustomed to certain demands, but they lack the ability to formulate contingency plans and corresponding solutions in emergencies, and lack efficient information sharing with customers. Therefore, they cannot respond quickly to customer demands when facing the impact of the epidemic. In Zhou Shihao's view, although the epidemic has brought a lot of inconvenience to logistics and transportation, it has also objectively helped the industry to make some fundamental changes.First, the role of shipping companies, freight forwarders and other industrial chain to accelerate the pace of digitization. In the field of container import and export logistics this year, the proportion of digital online booking space has exceeded 15%. The epidemic has greatly accelerated the pace of digitization of the entire industry, and logistics and freight forwarding companies that cannot keep up with this trend may be eliminated at an accelerated pace.Second, the shipper has a stronger demand for standardized service and deterministic service. In the past, many shippers pursued the lowest price, but with the occurrence of this round of large-scale cabin explosion and cabinet shortage, more guaranteed, certain and standardized services have become required by shippers. Therefore, in a sense, when the market fluctuates, it is the best opportunity to build the future international logistics service standard.Third, the status of "Made in China" is further enhanced to build a solid foundation for the development of the international logistics market. The outbreak further proves that China's complete manufacturing industry chain system cannot be quickly replaced by any other country in the world. The continuous consolidation of the status of "Made in China" also lays a strong foundation for the long-term development of the entire international logistics industry in the future.Zhou Shihao said that with the launch of the new crown vaccine and a certain degree of control of the overseas epidemic, the rising trend of sea freight in 2021 will slow down or even show a small decline. As the pick up of container turnover rate, lack of cabin, lack of cabinet situation will gradually improve. Due to the rapid growth of vaccine transport demand, transport resources in the air transport market will be relatively tight in 2021.When it comes to the long-term development trend of the international logistics market, Zhou Shihao believes that there are three aspects that should be paid attention to by international logistics enterprises. First of all, the boundary between shipping companies and logistics companies, freight forwarding companies will be more blurred, together towards the end-to-end integrated logistics services. Therefore, logistics and freight forwarding enterprises must be clear about their core competitiveness and strive to achieve innovation and breakthrough in order to better cope with this change.Second, digitalization will become an irreversible trend. After the epidemic test, many logistics enterprises have realized the importance of digital services. Digitalization will become the standard allocation of every large and medium-sized international supply chain logistics enterprise and the focus of enterprise innovation and breakthrough. Finally, from "Made in China" to "Made in China", a number of Chinese supply chain logistics enterprises with global service capabilities will emerge. At present, the Chinese logistics and freight forwarding enterprises that truly realize globalization are few and far between. It used to be "Made in China", but in the future as more Chinese enterprises go overseas and establish production bases in countries around the world, it will become "Made by Chinese". This is bound to require Chinese logistics and supply chain enterprises to go abroad and establish a transportation network covering the world, so as to better support Chinese enterprises to go global."
