In 2021, the world's top 30 container ports combined handled more than 450 million TEUs (TEUS), up 6.8% year on year, of which Chinese ports accounted for 47%.In 2021, the production situation at major ports around the world is generally positive, with only four ports in the top 30 registering negative growth and nine ports registering double-digit growth. Among the top 10 ports, 7 are from China, and the top 8 remain the same. Shanghai Port is still at the top, leading for 12 consecutive years with positive growth, and is expected to hit 50 million TEUs this year. The Port of Singapore returned to pre-pandemic throughput levels of 37 million TEUs. Ningbo Zhoushan Port catches up with its container throughput exceeding 30 million TEUS, narrowing the gap with Singapore port. Shenzhen Port, Qingdao Port and Tianjin Port have maintained positive growth for two consecutive years despite a large base.According to the statistics released by the Shenzhen Municipal Transportation Bureau, shenzhen Port completed a total container throughput of 28.77 million TEUs in 2021, up 8.4% year on year. The number of international liner routes reached 302, an increase of 61 compared with the end of 2020.
